Manufacturers are finding themselves with a lack of talent, both due to the growing need for skilled labor and the rapidly retiring baby boomer generation. By 2025, it is predicted there will be two million unfilled manufacturing jobs. These factory jobs are highly skilled, well-paid positions with opportunities for advancement and to impact the world in a very positive way. But millennials don’t see it this way. In fact, if they were starting their careers today, they ranked manufacturing as their least preferred industry, after technology, health care, financial services, retail, communications and energy.
